Integrative Medicine for Orofacial Pain

About Integrative Medicine for Improved Orofacial Pain Management

What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative Medicine is a specialty of medicine that:

  • combines conventional medicine and complementary/alternative therapies in a unified healing-oriented approach

  • provides a holistic, whole person (mind and body) healthcare approach to address symptoms and to optimize care

  • is evidence-based

  • focuses on incorporating natural and less invasive therapies

Who can benefit from an Integrative Medicine approach for pain management?

Pain can rewire the brain, affecting both the mind and the body. For pain management, an Integrative Medicine approach looks beyond the symptoms by thoroughly assessing and addressing the many factors (ie sleep, nutrition, stress) that can slow down healing. Integrative Medicine has been shown to help people who suffer from fatigue, anxiety, pain, cancer, headaches and fibromyalgia.

Do I have to request Integrative Medicine?

Although Dr. Wang follows a generalized Integrative Medicine approach for all of her patients, due to time constraints and individual preferences, personalized Integrative Medicine pain management treatment plans may require separate appointments and are created by request only.

Is Dr. Wang trained in Integrative Medicine?

After following an integrative approach to patient care for many years, Dr. Wang decided to pursue formal training with the pioneers in Integrative Medicine. As the only dentist in the largest ever cohort, of physicians and other healthcare providers, currently enrolled in the prestigious Fellowship with the University of Arizona College of Medicine Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Wang is excited and honored to collaborate with medical colleagues leading the transformation of medicine across the US. Upon completion of the Fellowship, Dr. Wang will be the very first dental provider in the US formally trained to offer patient care following an innovative Integrative Medical model for Orofacial Pain Management.
