The Specialty of Orofacial Pain

Orofacial Pain is the newest recognized specialty of dentistry that encompasses the diagnosis, management and treatment of pain disorders of the jaw, mouth, face, head and neck.

 

The American Board of Orofacial Pain (ABOP) is the governing board for certifying eligible Orofacial Pain Specialists. To become a Board Certified Diplomate of the ABOP, the specialist dentist must first pass an intensive written exam, followed by an oral exam comprised of multiple complex patient cases. There are currently only a few Board Certified Orofacial Pain Diplomates in Illinois. Dr. Wang is very honored to be one of the few.
